It is very hard to say where I prefer. Each place have it's own qualities. It depends what kind of diving you are after. If you want some hardcore current and isolated diving, Lombok is definitely the place to go. But takes ages to get around. If you are not planning to go to Lombok anyway and only have a few weeks, then dont go! If you're a dedicated diver its well worth the visit though :) The Gili's got some nice diving. Bad corals, nice macro and turtles. I would recommend you to stay here a few days anyway (beautiful island), so why not do some diving asvell. All there is to do is relax anyway. GO there :) When you are in Bali you can easily get to Nusa Penida on a half day trip by boat. www.crystaldivers.com in Sanur is a great place (say hi to everybody from me!). In Bali I would say Tulamben is an absolutely must! I also really Like Padang Bai for the great macro life there. Perfect for photography. It is very hard to say where I prefer. Each place have it’s own qualities. It depends what kind of diving you are after.
